Introspective Parenting Workshop

What:
Introspective Parenting Workshop

In this 3-session workshop, we will practice an “inside-out” approach to parenting where we examine the internal world of the parent and child, leading us to solutions that come from the values we want to live by.

We will start by discovering the values you’d like to foster in your family—what really matters to you? Then we will look at the thoughts and feelings that can get in the way of living by what matters to you... guilt, anger, disapproval, exhaustion, confusion, and an overall feeling of being out of control. And through various experiential opportunities, including closed-eye processes, group discussions, partnering exercises, individual sharing, and supportive coaching, you will learn ways to connect with the deeper longing under the surface. Once these deeper desires are discovered, it is then easier to see solutions that align with your family values.

During this workshop you will learn how to… —connect with and live by the values you really care about —address the underlying needs of yourself and your child —be empathetic and compassionate —allow the message of love to come through

What:
A grief support group for those who have experienced the loss of an infant through miscarriage, termination of pregnancy, stillbirth, or death of a child.

If you have lost an infant, you know the story. For many, it is a loss that leaves you feeling so alone. Maybe others don’t know about your loss, or if they do, minimize it by saying “well, you can try again” or even not talking about it at all. Or maybe you are surrounded by friends with healthy babies and feel like you are the only one grieving this loss.

This group is a place where you can know you are not alone. Where you can share your story, hear others’ stories, and together share how you are learning to heal.

Time does not heal all wounds. But, time and attention, rituals and nurturing, compassionate support and safe relationships…all these things working together can help us through even the most difficult or complicated losses.  This is what this group can provide. We hope you join us!

Where:
Mariposa Parent-Child Workshop, 47192 Monroe St. Indio, CA 92201

I’ve been there. Whether it is a loss that everyone knows about, or a silent loss that few do, grief can ambush us and leave us literally (or figuratively) curled up in a ball, or crying until we can’t cry anymore. Or lashing out at our dear ones. Or feeling low-key depressed for uncharacteristically long periods of time. I know. It hurts. And it hurts for much longer than we wish. I’ve learned that time does not heal all wounds. Time and attention, rituals and nurturing, compassionate support and safe relationships…all these things working together can help us through even the most difficult or complicated losses.
I help people who are grieving make it through those first agonizing months. I help them find the support they need to make it through, and the courage to tend to their losses, even when it hurts. I help people find meaning in their grief journey, a deeper connection with themselves and their spirituality, better relationships, and a deep belief that life is still worth living and that we can have moments of beauty amidst the pain.
If you are grieving, whether the loss happened yesterday or years ago, I would love to walk through the grief journey with you. I have had the privilege of supporting hundreds of grieving people in grief groups and individual grief therapy. I don’t have “answers” or “easy fixes” (those aren’t usually really helpful anyway) but I can provide support, some helpful thoughts, and a safe space to be really honest about your experience.
